IMS Attendance Policy

Without a note or parent/guardian phone call describing the reason, a student’s absence or late arrival is considered unexcused.  Absences or tardies will be excused for the following reasons (see District Policy 3122P):

            1.  Illness or a health condition

2.      Religious observance when requested by a student’s parent(s)

3.      School approved activities

4.      Family emergencies

5.      Required court proceedings

6.      Pre-arranged absences (such as family trips)

7.      Disciplinary actions or short-term suspensions

Realizing that punctual attendance to class is a key component to student success, IMS teachers will be enforcing a school-wide tardy policy. As a result, a student will receive a warning for their first unexcused tardy to class and from that point on, receive an infraction for any additional unexcused tardies. Students who have excused tardies will not face consequences, but must have a legitimate reason for the tardy and have a note explaining the tardy.
