OLD BUSINESS

Ron reported that the Locker Committee would like more specific feedback from students.  He will put together a student survey.

NEW BUSINESS

Ron reported that work is beginning on the building schedule/matrix for next year.  Meeting the PE Requirements will have some impact on electives, however, right now it doesn’t look like a lot.

Block class teachers are concerned about what the ramifications are for them and what they will be teaC..  Ron will look at the possibility of blocks changing each trimester – can the computer do this?

Re-structure of the BLC/Print Shop is still being looked at.  Staff feedback is encouraged as soon as possible as the decision will be made soon.

Ron would like to form a committee to review the entire SLC/SSR program.  Let him know if anyone is interested in serving on the committee.  It was agreed that the committee should consist of 6 to 10 staff members in different grade levels and subject areas, students and parents.

Ron is also forming a committee to explore options on how to select team leaders.  Ron will set up a meeting time and will send an e-mail.  Any staff interested in being on this committee should let him know.

Ron reported that there are still issues of attendance not  being accurately recorded in classes.  Webwise is not an option as the District is looking at going away from it.  Ron will continue to discuss with Binka the possibility of collecting attendance each period.  Team leaders are asked to please encourage teams to take accurate attendance.

Spring pictures for students is tentatively scheduled for April 10.  This could be quite disruptive as it involves taking pictures of all the students, however, the school makes over $800 profit.  Team Leaders are asked to get feedback from teams on whether or not they want this to take place and any ideas they may have of how to call students out of class with fewer interruptions and bring this feedback to the next School Council.

ASB Report

Friday, February 1 is the 6th Grade Social from 2:30 to 4:00 sponsored by Friends of the Library.  Activity Day for Friday, February 8 was cancelled when the Activity Calendar was revised in November.

Thursday, February 14 – Valentines Day, ASB will be featuring a civility activity.  Students will receive a heart necklace in first period, different colors for each grade.  They will be instructed to give their heart to someone in another grade by the end of the day and will be encouraged to “take a risk” and give their heart to someone they did not already know.  During sixth period, teachers will count how many students gave away their heart and received another one.  If 85% of the school gave away and received another heart, the entire school will be rewarded with a goodie.

ASB is supporting the PTSA fundraiser for Echo Glen by staffing the Hole-in-the-Wall from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. for drop off of donations.  Donations will be accepted February 4 – 15.

Fifteen ASB students will be attending a Regional Leadership conference on Thursday, February 7.  They will be interacting with students from middle schools around the greater Seattle area.  A list of attendees will be in teachers’ boxes on Monday.
