Middle School Council Minutes
February 28, 2002
Chairperson: David Kappler Gatekeeper: Lisa Margolies Scribe: Sandie Pike
Nancy Campi reported that parents would like the staff to review procedures and rationale for group projects. The logistics between families outside of school time can be very difficult. Also, are the grades given a fair assessment for all who worked on the project? This issue will be brought to the next Team Leader Meeting for discussion.
It was agreed that beginning with the next School Council Meeting, the minutes from the previous meeting will be approved and made official. Members are asked to check the unofficial minutes and be prepared to make any changes necessary.
Nancy Campi reported that the School Council Committee has met several times. They will be putting together proposed bylaws and hope to have the Revised School Council in effect before Fall. The committee will be looking to lay out the purpose and focus, the membership including terms, responsibilities and the selection process, structure of the meetings, agendas, how decisions are made, record keeping and evaluation process. Any input should go be e-mailed to one of the committee members.

The first meeting of the SLC/SSR Committee will be Friday, March 8. SSR guidelines are still needed from the 6th and 8th Grade Teams.
Corrine DeRosa reported that the BLC will be moved to room 802 and it is hoped to have it up and running for the start of Trimester III. The room can accommodate up to 13 students and will be used for after school detention as well. The large copier will be moved from the Print Shop so some printing can still be done.
Spring Pictures were discussed. This would make approximately $800 for the school and the money could be split and go directly to each team. Team Leaders are asked to take this suggestion to their teams and bring back to the next Team Leader Meeting.
