ASB Report

The ASB officers see bullying as an issue they want to tackle.  They would like training in this area.  Regarding the Learning Improvement Calendar, ASB students feel that Wednesday would be the best option for late arrival.  Adopt-A-Child is coming up.  It will be done through SLC classes.  It was suggested that classes be conservative in committing to the number of kids they want to sponsor because of the  “big ticket” items being requested.

ASB was congratulated on the nice job that was done with the Veteran’s Day Assembly.

Team Reports

6th Grade

The sixth grade team would like specific information on where the time is coming from for the late arrival days on the Learning Improvement Calendar.  Until this issue is resolved, they feel it is too difficult to consider.

7th Grade

The seventh grade team would also like more information on the calendar.  The Food Drive sponsored by the seventh grade team will start Tuesday, November 13 and run through Tuesday, November 20.  Non-perishable food will be donated to the Issaquah Food Bank and Northwest Harvest.  Collection boxes will be delivered to each room and food will be picked up by the 7th grade students.

8th Grade

Wednesday, November 14 is 8th Grade Shadow Day.  Students not participating will be in the library working on an alternate assignment.

There was discussion on the policy regarding cell phones.  It was noted that the district policy and the policy in the student handbook appear to be contradictory.    Elaine Hollaway, IVE parent, indicated that she is interested in serving on the committee to look at the structure of our School Council.  There was discussion on the lock down procedures.  It was noted that classrooms need to have food available for diabetic students.  Amy Berreth asked to have someone look at and decide the best way to protect the kids – are tables the best way?
