Issaquah Middle School Council Minutes
Minutes from the March 27 School Council Meeting were approved as presented.

Elections for 2003-2004 School
Council membership will be held at the May meeting.
Ron reported that he has collected
feedback from the staff on the pop machine issue and he will be talking to
ASB. He plans to bring a summary to the
next staff meeting and prepare to take a staff vote.
New Business
The District Learning Improvement
Calendar survey is now “live” for staff, parents and students to input their
feedback. Ron encouraged everyone to
take a few minutes to take the survey.
It is due May 9.
Dates for the 2003-2004 School
Council Meetings were presented and approved.
Meetings will be scheduled for 9/25, 10/23, 11/20, 12/18, 1/22, 2/26,
3/25, 4/22 and 5/27.
Team Leaders requested a gatekeeper
be assigned at School Council Meetings.
This will be looked at during the May meeting when the by-laws are
reviewed. A copy of the by-laws will be
sent out with the minutes for members to review prior to the next meeting.
Team Reports
6th Grade
Lorna reported that the 6th grade is beginning their Animal projects in their Humanities and Math/Science classes.
Ron commended the team on a successful 5th Grade Orientation and Curriculum Night.
7th Grade
The Language portion of the WASL concludes tomorrow. Kurt reported that there were fewer
“overtime” students than in the past and so far the testing has gone
smoothly. Everyone has been flexible
with their schedules. Ron thanked Shona
Campbell and Paula Weiss for their efforts as Testing Coordinators.
8th Grade
Barbara
Galler reported that the 8th grade field trip to UW is
tomorrow. They did get enough parent
chaperones.
The
8th grade team has decided not to have Shadow Day next year as it
will be done at the high school level.
Staff
is preparing for Spring Forum and Promotion.
Kathy reported that the Resource students are also beginning their Animal projects. All special needs students are taking WASL tests and some are especially stressed.

ASB Report
Ron thanked the ASB and National Jr. Honor Society students for all their
help at 5th Grade Orientation and Curriculum Night. He also
indicated that the Middle School Principals are proposing to transfer money
from the General Fund to ASB in order to meet the required budget cuts. The 8th Grade Team thanked ASB for
making name tags for the 8th Grade Field Trip.
