Jiff Searing was unanimously
approved as the new Parent Representative to School Council.
Pat Randall introduced New Staff
Representative, Barbara Galler.
Susan Marcolina
asked for staff input on the effect of the new bell times on student
learning. Team Leaders will discuss in
team meetings and bring feedback to the next School Council.

6th Grade
None
7th Grade
The 7th grade
team expressed appreciation for all the parents who took part in Curriculum
Night. The Community Experience Project
is off to a good start.
8th Grade
Dates for Spring Forum were finalized May 18 to June 4.

Classified Staff
EA schedule changes are having a big impact new
schedules went into effect on October 20.
ASB Report
Spirit Week is October 27
through October 31.
There is a PM Assembly on October
31.
Guidelines for appropriate costumes
on Halloween have gone out to students in the morning announcements and there
are posters around school.
PTSA Report
PTSA
currently has 733 members which includes 9 classified
and 4 certificated staff. Teachers would
like the membership envelopes put in their boxes again.
Salmon
Days parking fundraiser went very well, bringing in approximately $3,500.
Parents
would like clarification and consistency on progress reports which ones need
to be signed and returned.
The
statewide PTSA Legislative Assembly was held.
The major issues are: Access to Healthcare for Children and Youth,
Simple Majority for Levies and Bonds, Alternative Assessments to the WASL, Fair
and Ample Tax System, Funding and Support of Mental Health Services for
Children and Adolescents.
Community Center
The
after school program is serving a lot of students. The center is attempting to enhance their
programs.
The
second Middle School dance will be held Friday, October 24. Admission is $5 and students must have a
student ID.
There
are several volunteer opportunities available for students at the Community
Center for Community Service.

Ron reported that another section of 6th grade
math has been created. He thanked
counselors, staff, students and their families for their work and
flexibility.
IMS had their second fire drill today and it was very
successful.
Ron also reported that Curriculum Night went well and he
thanked everyone who attended.
Susan Marcolina gave the
District Liaison report. School Board
elections will be on
November 4. She spoke about Differentiated Instruction
training that is being made available to teachers. A meeting to form Study Circles will be held
October 29 from
Ron gave an update on the construction project in process
in the ISEP portables to install a bathroom, office and kitchenette. He anticipates completion in two to three
weeks.
